All of our furniture is designed by architect Chris van Niekerk and developed in close collaboration with a select group of South African makers. Our studio is based in central Cape Town and is open to visitors by appointment.
Arranged together in dialogue, Kyle Morland’s sculptures and MŪVEK’s furniture designs express a shared vocabulary. Facets, edges, and intervals are common to them both, as is a formal refinement and simplicity of line.

In material, they are also consonant, favouring largely unyielding mediums—particularly metal—over more pliant counterparts. Both studios produce objects to be encountered in the round: works of physical weight and presence that occupy space.

Yet while MŪVEK’s designs bend considerations of compositional balance and beauty towards function, Morland’s sculptures do precisely otherwise, bending functional references towards pure abstraction.
